Work Based Learning - Year 3 CTE
Students who wish to continue their CTE experience may apply to be a third year student in Welding, Health Science and Culinary Arts. Spots are limited and require the completion of an application plus letters of recommendation. Participation in these courses require the student to be pursuing a career in their CTE area plus they are required to have work experiences throughout the program, such as a job, internship, co-op, etc. that relates to their chosen field.
The WBL courses gives Mississippi high school students the opportunity to earn academic credit for their authentic work experiences. To receive credit, students must be enrolled in a WBL course and meet all course requirements.
- The WBL Welding Program & the WBL Culinary Arts program are both 2 semesters & require 280 hours of work experience during those semesters. The student will receive 2 credits for these courses.
- The WBL Health Science/CNA Program is 1 semester & requires 140 hours of work experience during the semester it is taken. The student will receive 1 credit for this course.
