Military Family Resources
CES Yearly Family Resource
Caledonia Elementary School strives to meet the needs of all of our military students. We are fortunate to live in a community with ties to the military. As a school, we understand the unique situations that our military students encounter, and we want our military families to know we are here to help. Our staff has a variety of experience in assisting with military youth and their families, many are part of military families as well. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Erica Lewis, Parent Coordinator, if you have any questions. She can be reached by email at: erica.lewis@lowndes.k12.ms.us
CES yearly events to honor our military families include:
September 11th: Each year on this day all are encouraged to wear patriotic clothing and we have a moment of silence for those who lost their lives and for those who serve to protect our freedom.
Veterans Day: The students of Caledonia Elementary School line the hallways with posters, wave flags, and cheer on our veterans as they are escorted to our gymnasium. A reception follows in the gym with patriotic songs sung by our students and refreshments served by our Anchored 4 Life club members.
April: April is the month of the Military Child! During the month a day will be selected to for to wear purple, and we also host an event to celebrate the sacrifices of our military children.
Military Student Academic Planning:
CES is dedicated to ensuring all students receive the best education possible. We work with military students and their families to ensure their grade level placement meets the academic needs of the student as well as their ability level. Once they are placed in their grade level, if any adjustments are needed for the academic well-being of the student, administration can make those changes as they see fit.
Anchored 4 Life: A peer-to-peer to peer group to help all families through various transitions such as coming to a new school, moving, deployment, and reintegration. If you would like to learn more please visit: https://anchored4life.com/
Our District offers services for all students despite any challenges they might face including learning disabilities or needing an extra challenge outside of the classroom for our academically gifted students. Visit our district special service department contact information if you have any questions or concerns.
