Our School
New Hope Elementary School is one of three schools that compose the New Hope School System. We serve the children of the New Hope and Steens communities and offer them the opportunity to attend grades K - 12 on one campus.
Our school is fully accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education and has been designated Level 4, Exemplary, each year from 2001 until now. We have also consistently earned adequately yearly progress (AYP) status as defined by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
The mission of New Hope Elementary School is to build a solid foundation for student learning in collaboration with parents and other members of the community.
Our school serves an average of 1,300 students in grades K - 5. Class sizes range from 20 - 24 students with an average of 22 per class. These students are supported by one hundred twenty nine highly qualified certified and support staff members. More than half of teachers have ten or more years of experience and nine are National Board certified.
Academic excellence abounds at New Hope Elementary School. Students enjoy the use of 31,200+ volume library plus access to over 1,000 E-Books. Children are challenged and patiently guided to learn at their developmental level with a focus on meeting the State of Mississippi standards. In addition to a robust intellectually gifted program, we offer weekly instruction in music, art, library, and physical education from teacher specialists. We provide computers with Internet access in each classroom. Our students benefit from many programs that provide additional educational support through individualized and small group instruction. These programs include Title I reading services, language arts and math tutoring, speech and language services, Teacher Support Team interventions, and vision and hearing support services.
Parents receive report cards each nine-week period and progress reports in the middle of each nine-week period, but parents are encouraged to schedule parent-teacher conferences at any time to receive updates concerning their child’s progress. We encourage parents to actively volunteer in classrooms.
Academic excellence, highly qualified teachers and support staff, and quality educational programs - all this and more make New Hope Elementary School a great place for students to learn!
